چکیده

Raps, Shirley (University of Illinois, Urbana) and R. D. DeMoss. Glycolytic enzymes in Zymomonas mobilis. J. Bacteriol. 84:115-118. 1962-An enzyme extract of Zymomonas mobilis (Pseudomonas lindneri) was capable of fermenting glucose-6-phosphate to CO(2) and ethanol. The extract was found to contain phosphohexoisomerase, aldolase, and glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase, but no demonstrable phosphohexokinase. The lack of isotope-mixing found in earlier studies is, thus, explained on an enzymatic basis.

Isolation and properties of the glycolytic enzymes from Zymomonas mobilis. The five enzymes from glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase through to pyruvate kinase.

The five glycolytic enzymes glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase, phosphoglycerate kinase, phosphoglycerate mutase, enolase and pyruvate kinase were each purified from extracts of Zymomonas mobilis cells, by using dye-ligand chromatography as the principal step. Two procedures, producing three and two of the enzymes respectively, are described in detail. Z. mobilis glyceraldehyde-phosphate ...

Characterization of heterologous and native enzyme activity profiles in metabolically engineered Zymomonas mobilis strains during batch fermentation of glucose and xylose mixtures.

Zymomonas mobilis has been metabolically engineered to broaden its substrate utilization range to include D-xylose and L-arabinose. Both genomically integrated and plasmid-bearing Z. mobilis strains that are capable of fermenting the pentose D-xylose have been created by incorporating four genes: two genes encoding xylose utilization metabolic enzymes (xylA/xylB) and two genes encoding pentose ...

Allosteric control of Zymomonas mobilis glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase by phosphoenolpyruvate.

The second enzyme of the Entner-Doudoroff glycolytic pathway in Zymomonas mobilis, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, has been found to be inhibited by phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP). In the presence of PEP levels in the micromolar range, the response of the enzyme to glucose 6-phosphate concentration becomes sigmoidal, with a Hill coefficient up to 2. At low ionic strength in the absence of PEP, th...

Enhancement of furan aldehydes conversion in Zymomonas mobilis by elevating dehydrogenase activity and cofactor regeneration

BACKGROUND Furfural and 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) are the two major furan aldehyde inhibitors generated from lignocellulose dilute acid pretreatment which significantly inhibit subsequent microbial cell growth and ethanol fermentation. Zymomonas mobilis is an important strain for cellulosic ethanol fermentation but can be severely inhibited by furfural and (or) HMF. Previous study showed th...

Heterologous expression and extracellular secretion of cellulolytic enzymes by Zymomonas mobilis.

Development of the strategy known as consolidated bioprocessing (CBP) involves the use of a single microorganism to convert pretreated lignocellulosic biomass to ethanol through the simultaneous production of saccharolytic enzymes and fermentation of the liberated monomeric sugars. In this report, the initial steps toward achieving this goal in the fermentation host Zymomonas mobilis were inves...
